Political Sin Political Sin
Manipulation to gain Political endevours, Featuring George Bush Sr & Jr
COLORADO SPRINGS, June 21st 2003: With America rushing into war amid worldwide protests, Colorado artist Tommy Gallagher has a few things to say on his debut CD, Love & Politics.
This disc of all original songs features the Colorado Springs-based artist playing all the instruments and asking some tough questions about his country and its current direction. And he explores the personal politics of love, both for the Earth and for other people. Love & Politics covers a lot of ground.
Band/artist history
Tommy is a self taught musician, picking up the tennis racket in 1968 and mock jamming to the sounds of the Beatles, the Doors, the Rolling Stones, The Who, the Monkees and many other 60s Rock'n'Roll bands. Realizing what a blast real music was, he dropped the racket and bought a Sears Silvertone guitar and amp for $22.00 in 1973. Although he would play in various projects, the real desire to play music did not flourish till his late 20s. Tommy Gallagher is not your run of the mill "Dude with a guitar."
Left of center, sarcastic, and a bit pissed off, Gallagher breaks the mold of the stereotypical singer/songwriter and instead revels in pushing the envelope by blending the rawness of a Blues Rocker and the softness of a balladeer with the edginess of rock and roll.
Tommy was an original member of Second Generation from 1987 till the band break up in December of '95. Second Generation played mostly in Manitou Springs and Woodland Park, Colorado. SG opened for Shakedown Street, a popular Grateful Dead cover band, on several occasions.
After a little time off Tommy played in a project called Moon Magic from '97 to '99. This was a six-piece band playing Santana to Dwight Yocum, mostly a cover band playing the Colorado Springs, Woodland Park area. Upon the band break up, Gallagher very much wanted to get back into recording his original compositions and put out a CD. So in the summer of '99 he started to purchase a variety of recording equipment and in April of 2000 started recording Love & Politics in his home. On June 21st, 2003 Love & Politics, fully mastered at Valentine Digital Studios, was hot off the press and officially released. Independent & college radio stations around the country are playing Love & Politics in their daily rotation. Tommy is in the process of recording his second CD which will be all-acoustic and will feature some very popular national musicians. A 2004 Spring-Summer release is hopeful.
