Whats up guys, my names TJ Lawrence and im cool.
Band/artist history
Ive only been in this music thing for 4 and a half years.I started off everything musically listening to a lot of rap music in the 8th grade. Then later started listening to jazz and really wanted to play the drums and the piccolo. When i moved to Chicago I got really into punk, metal, hardcore rock and alternative music. I remember seeing this band called Mudvayne and I saw the bassist, Ryan Martinie, play and I thought he was amazing. So I later bought my first bass, A cheap black and white 4 string Fender Squier. Then I taught myself how to play bass, I never had lessons, and I taught myself everything I know musically, music theory, guitar techniques and licks, etc. I'd say the first two years of me having the bass I wasnt really into playing it that much because I was a skater and that took up most of my time. But a couple years later I quit skating so I could concentrate more on my music and hang out with my other friends more. It was then that I played like it was an addiction and developed in my bass playing very fast, in fact i developed faster than anyone I know, and I was always known for being a skilled bassist. But it wasnt until I started listening to my musical Idol Jaco Pastorious that I really started playing like a professional, because I had never heard anything like him. His virtuosity in his bass playing really inspired me and I noticed that I had gained a high status in playing very quickly. I am now currently in my first band called Any Days Surrender and I am of course the bassist for the band. Ive been making beats for about 2 and a half years now and I started off with a program for playstation called MTV Music Generator. I can make music in many different styles and I love all types of music. I have no musical boundaries and I always find something new in every style of musical I listen to. I personally dont think there is a style of music that I dont like.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Haven't played live yet in the band im in, but soon will.
Your musical influences
My musical idols are Jaco Pastorious, Kanye West,The Neptunes, Ryan Martinie,Les Claypool, John Legend and Timbaland. As far as myself I think I am talented at what I do, and love music with a passion. Im mostly influenced by music in the Jazz, Rock, and Electronic genres.
What equipment do you use?
All I have is a PC. The program I use.....fruity loops, thats it. The beats I put on here are not all songs, they are just temporary beats I made just until I get the Korg Triton Studio 76 keyboard. Once I get that im taking these beats and either selling them or layering other samples on them and then making them songs. But as of right now, im gonna wait until I get that keyboard to start making songs out off most of the beats I put on here. Later, and please spread the word about me, and vote on my beats, thanks. -TJ-
