You Can't Sell Me For A Song You Can't Sell Me For A Song
Originally this was a "You can't catch me" idea, but as I progressed I found the simple tune was sort of singing itself, so I free formed a couple of takes to come up with this. For me, it doesn't refer to anything at all, I just like the sound.
Highway Lament Take Two Highway Lament Take Two
Ballad, about a few years in my youth I guess. I don't really remember. I do remember a lot of Highways. I've done this twice now, same song. I wasn't all that happy with the first take. Sentiment was there. Never perfect.
The Little Robot At Light Speed The Little Robot At Light Speed
I had a song/tune in my head and was writing the lyrics, as the tune was inspired by the punch line. Half way through writing the lyrics I decided to just play it instead, no lyrics. As I got better at playing the tune, I knew what to do.
Highway Lament Highway Lament
This about the endless ribbons of highway that seem to follow any serious dismissal from a relationship. That happens when one is young, or at least, so it seemed in my youth. Sort of thing that colours the world, forcing one to hump steep hills.
The Wizard and The Little Alien The Wizard and The Little Alien
Originally was a folk tune, half completed, around lyric "If I Could See You Now" and chorus "I'm just a feather in the wind". In a sense, I'm just borrowing from that today.
The Robots Dance At Midnight The Robots Dance At Midnight
This turned out better than I expected. Originally the lyrics were "Whatever you want, wherever you go, I'll be there", but that was creepy. So this is just a sound effect acoustic rock tune. I speeded it up and added reverb, to make it fun.
Passing Luck Blues Two Passing Luck Blues Two
Old rhythm, newish words, a lot of fun to play, inspired by a recent experience, of which I'm not sure is finished. Had a killer punch line to this, I seem to recall, on a practice version, might update this. This is the fast version.
My Neighbour's Drunk Blues My Neighbour's Drunk Blues
Tizzy Blues Tizzy Blues
By chance, not thinking of the lyric & having to think of something microsecond fast, I came up with the line You Don't Like The Way I Lose, which could also be the title here, & perhaps will be my next endeavour...
Green Apple Tree Thud Green Apple Tree Thud
I was aiming for something completely different, something along the lines of Lost Her Blues, to maybe something resembling Green Onions, you know, if I could get something to fire, then pretty quickly found this rhythm, and for once played OK
Apple Jack's Happy Thing Apple Jack's Happy Thing
Two hobos, 1920s New Orleans. They don't quite play like anyone else in their spare time, though they play the blues. Each has a riff that makes them happy.
Lucky Sam's Happy Thing Lucky Sam's Happy Thing
Smile And There's Hope Blues Smile And There's Hope Blues
I really liked playing these chords as they sound good on my new second-hand guitar, and then I started singing, and then a song formed, particularly once I'd got out the notepad for the lyrics! Which are totally incomplete, but I doubt it matters!
Sunday Instrumental Sunday Instrumental
This is a project I'm working on simply because I like playing this. It's not very original, simple chords, but after I over-tracked myself a little adding lead, then adding a simple reverb filter and editing a fair bit, I liked it.
1920's Hobo Does Leaving Again 1920's Hobo Does Leaving Again
Savoy Brown have a song called Leaving Again. This is a version of that I guess.
Revisit King of the Fools Revisit King of the Fools
I composed and recorded this on a portable cassette around 1997. Also called King of the Blues. Appears a couple of times down my list. I've added some effects and left pieces I may have missed previously.
Two 20s Hobos Do Greensleeves Two 20s Hobos Do Greensleeves
As Pink Floyd said .. the thoughts of a man in his old age are the deeds of a man in his prime. I didn't use filters, save some damping of amplification, though I did add voice and royalty-free harmonica.
Another Goat On The Mountain Another Goat On The Mountain
I'm revisiting this. I need to move on from previous song, which is hard to play and sing well at the same time, at least, it is for me. I feel I should be playing better, and will practise this until I have a better sounding version.
Hello Houston Hello Houston
Busker's version of "Is There A Problem Houston?" below, I'm just attempting to make it sound better, and put in a lighter tone
Is There A Problem Houston? Is There A Problem Houston?
I had the punch line as long as 5 months ago, but no verse idea. That idea came to me yesterday. It's just a general lament over lost loves. I liked the idea of reversing the idea behind Apollo 13 movie and the Space Oddity song.
