Threedown began as a group to lead worship at local churches. As they felt the Lord begin to tug on their hearts to write music, they began to unfold what is now the threedown trademark sound. Hard rock coupled with heart-felt lyrics makes this band a must hear! Some of their songs include “Lost”, “Second Time Around”, “Change”, and many others.
Threedown (formerly known as Gold Plated Avenue) has played with bands such as Downhere, Strange Occurrence, Anthem (Sky Harbor) and Dizmas. Some of the larger venues include Ground Zero (Wichita, KS.), Fest X (Abilene, KS.), River Fest (Salina, KS.), and Lawrence Dumont Stadium (Wichita, KS.). Members Jon Stutzman, Nate Orr, Troy Lambert, Craig Stutzman, and Brian Dick believe it is their calling that they go into full time ministry with the music to which God has entrusted them. And so, continuing their calling, they moved to the Manhattan, KS to further their ministry.
The Lord has blessed this band with a fire for loving the lost, seeking Jesus, and most of all, helping others understand that Christianity isn’t about being perfect; it’s about knowing the perfect one. They want people to know that salvation is free, and that nobody can earn it. They want people to know that the hypocrisy they see in a world full of culture-Christians isn’t what God is all about. This band desires that people see Jesus in the way they perform as a band, but more importantly, see Him in the legacy of their lives.
We play live any chance we can get!! We love to hear the crowd and get pumped up for a show. We have played in local places mainly like Ground Zero (Wichita, KS.), and for a fund raiser in Manhattan, KS. We are, however, booked for a Battle of the Bands (Abilene, KS.), River Festival (Salina, KS.), and Lawrence DuMont Stadium (Wichita, KS.). All of these will be this summer and we'll be adding more soon. We haven't been playing long enough for me to have a "special" moment or anything. I just think it's a special thing for us to get up in front of the crowd and rock their faces off!
Wow! umm...some of our band influences are pretty scattered because we all come from very different musical backgrounds. These range from punk to folk to death metal!! Some of the bands we enjoy and look up to musically are: Staind, Kutless, Haste the Day, Disciple, Caedmon's Call, Third Day, Bebo Norman, Justin McRoberts, Underoath, Leo Kottke, Tommy Emmanuel, and many others. As you can see, we love different types of music.
