We are Third to None, a four-piece melodic rock band from Albany, NY. Formed in march of 2001, we have been playing in and around the Albany area, as well as many other places along the east coast.
Band/artist history
Flashback to February 2001: Two best friends from East Greenbush, NY have been playing music together for years, but are struggling to find someone to sing and play guitar with them to form the perfect band. A few towns over, a singer/guitarist has been trying to form a band for years, thinking he'd never find one, meeting with nothing but dead ends. Until one day when he gets an instant message from a total stranger: "We got your name from so and so and he said you might want to come play and audition for our band?" It had happened this way (or something like it) a hundred times before, but "Hey, why not?" he thinks as he races out the door. Those two kids were Mark Buono and Declan Byrnes, and that singer/guitarist was Jeff Krenn, the founding members of the melodic alternative punk rock band you now know as Third To None. The instant connection was sensed by everyone present that day and from then on, they all knew their involvement with music was going to drastically change for the better. Two weeks later, they went into the studio to record their first demo. Since then, TTN has been full steam ahead, never looking back. In May of 2001, just three months after forming, the band was introduced to Jeff Palmateer who offered contracted management and, knowing they weren't really sure how to operate a serious band themselves (because no one had ever been in one before), they took him up on the offer. Just months later, Third To None was opening for Universal Records recording artists OLEANDER in front of hundreds of people. The band began attaining almost immediate attention and amassing fans in Albany, NY (where they consider themselves to be based from) as well as towns in and around the capital city. Not wanting to settle for just that, the band began to play away from home in any town that would have them. With help from success on mp3.com (over 30,000 plays!) they began to make a nationwide name for themselves, and started being requested in other states for shows and radio airplay. In January of 2002, TTN welcomed guitarist Russ Thompson of Ravena, NY into the band to allow for further growth and complexity, recorded a second demo, and continued playing out of state as well as locally. All full-time students as well as full-time band members, it's clear that these four talented and youthful (none over the age of 20!) musicians are extremely dedicated. "It's never been easy to make everything work and it involves a lot of sacrifice but we're going to do whatever it takes for however long it takes to get where we think we should be" says Jeff K, and from the look of things, it seems he means what he says. The band combines melody and harmony with equal parts energy and groove to produce songs that will stay stuck in your head for days on end and their explosive and fun-filled live performances keep fans coming back every time. Since their formation in 2001, the band has shared the stage with such greats as Oleander, Simple Plan, Autopilot Off, Showoff, Agent Felix, Catch 22, Count The Stars, Bigwig, and the list goes on. It's hard to believe a band with so much going on was formed just a few short years back, and with nothing but bigger and better things to come, it's clear that Third To None isn't going anywhere - but up.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Yes we play live anywhere and as often as possible. Playing live is the best part of being in a band, any time when the crowd connects with what we're doing is a special moment.
What equipment do you use?
Third to None uses Pearl Drums, Zildian and Paiste cymbals, Marshall amps, and Gibson, Epiphone Gauge and Fender guitars.
Anything else?
We are currently recording a new full length record that should be finished sometime in early 2004.
