The Young Turks
The Young Turks were a Detroit based punk band founded by Chrystian Tracey of Southgate and Peter Smith of Dearborn in the latter part of two-thousand and one. Guitarist Branden Alveraz and Brandon Scott were added to the mix in 2002. After the band, Smith and Alveraz parted way, The group evolved into a trio with Tracey and Scott who added bassist Jeff Davis in May of 2005. The band has just finished up tape on their first LP and has released one time member Brandon Scott. He has been replaced by Richard Hanes of Melvindale, Michigan. Their current sound follows in the tradition of such other Detroit acts as MC5, The White Stripes, Iggy and the Stooges and SRC. In addition to local influences The Young Turks are also influenced by The Beatles, The Doors, The Who and The Rolling Stones.
