The Waters Project
This is a solo project by me, Rick Waters. I play all the instruments, which include guitars, bass, elec. and acoustic violins, keyboard, mandolin, dijembes, and sometimes vocals. I am currently doing this to work on a sort of "resume" so that I may one day become a record producer...
Please show your support. Nothing makes me happier than to hear a person comment on my music.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
I just started doing this because I was bored. I have been playing violin since I was four, and got back into it 3 years ago after I quit it my senior year of high school. The guitar has been my love since I was sixteen. The other instruments just came naturally: the bass because it is similiar to a guitar, and the mandolin, because it has the same tuning as a violin.
I played an older version of one of my songs to my friends and they were all really impressed, so that is what keeps me going. The feeling you get when a suprised look appears on a new listener's face because they realize that you can actually do this, and are not pretending...
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
No, this is a studio thing for me. But if you need me to serenade you, all you have to do is ask, and be a really hot woman...
Your musical influences
I have alot of respect for Tool and NIN, because their studio work is just incredible. And Incubus is also a big influence in alot of my work, especially the percussion.
What equipment do you use?
Epiphone Les Paul Standard
Ovation LX1777 Acoustic/Electric
Jurgenmeyer Electric Violin
Jerome Welner Violin
Grand 5-string Elec. Bass
Fender Electric Mandolin (which is my friend Jesse's)
M-Audio StudioPro 4 speakers
M-Audio Firewire Solo recording interface
Logic Express 7
iDrum drum machine software
Digitech RP200A multi-fx pedal,
Shure SM58 microphone
Samson CH700 Studio reference headphones
Boss MD-2 pedal
and small and medium dijembes. (I better get some hook-ups for sponsoring this stuff..haha!)
I wish I had a drum set, but for now, the dijembes will do.
Anything else?
Feedback welcome. I have come so far thanks to the help of my friends and their comments. Your can only make me stronger.
