The Villains are four childhood friends and an older gentleman making sensational riddim and blues music with a 90s alternative influence. Our music harkens back to a time before autotune, emo, and Nickleback; when music was a soulful sonic art form and not a digitally processed product.
Music should make you feel something. Whether it makes you want to dance or drive or fight or love, it should impact your existence and not just fill the empty space in the background of your life. The Villains rock.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
We started in 2009, using drum loops and beats instead of live drums and added our drummer, Sly in winter of 2010. We've recorded an LP/demo, Gas Can Revelations which is available at our shows or for online download.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
We play all around the Metro Detroit area but our favorite spot so far has been Pub 1281 in Mt. Clemens. I really enjoy when the crowd is enjoying it, its the best feeling. We're always looking for a special moment. Nice to see ya dance too.
Your musical influences
Having five members of various musical backgrounds, we draw from a wide range of influences: Nirvana, The Doors, Hendrix, Deftones, The Wailers, Beatles, Pink Floyd....
