The Tree Planter
Matt Love, Billy George Kplorfia and Charlesetta Moiyallah founded The Tree Planter Project in 2010, inspired by Nobel Peace Prize winner Wangari Maathai's work in planting trees in Kenya. Our organizational goals and objectives are to encourage people to join a campaign of tree planting to counter the effects of global warming. This international group's primary programs and services are to capture carbon and lower the amount of greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere, to mitigate the effects of climate change with our "Month of planting trees around the world to create a different world" campaign."
Band/artist history
When American songwriter Matt Love and his friend the Ghanaian songwriter and singer SEKPE ( Billy George Kplorfia) composed a song that would express the urgency of the situation, and present ideas about the solution in an upbeat and memorable musical context, they set about to find ways to spread the message around the world.
The composers are now seeking musicians the world over to record their own version of this song in every language and musical style.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
CDs containing the entire song as well as edited versions with voice over messages to be played as Public Service Announcements (PSAs) will be sent to radio stations all over the world in a coordinated campaign through the first part of 2011. Every play of this song or the related PSAs will increase public awareness of the problem of global warming and the suggested solution presented in the music.
