The SuperSmashers

The illest ska band on earth; or Marshfield, Wisconsin for that matter.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
It all started back in March of 2001. On one fateful day, Steve, Jake, and Andrew got together for the first practice of the band that would later become The SuperSmashers. Andrew, tired of his old Phish wanna- be band had asked Steve, whom he shared percussion duties with in the freshman band, if his current band needed another guitar player. With incessant pestering, Steve finally said OK. Over the next month, Steve, Jake, and Andrew (and Garrett, whom they practiced with once or twice) worked up a small set list of originals and covers. Realizing the need for a bass player, Andrew found a deal on EBay and bought a beat up jazz bass. Somewhere in here, The SuperSmashers realized that none of them liked singing. Andrew pestered his friend Corey into coming to a practice to try his hand at the vocals. Sure, Corey couldn't sing worth a damn, but he sang with a passion. They also got their first name from him, 10 Fingers Corey, an 88 Fingers Louie rip off. After considering all tastes of the band, with Steve being emo, Jake pop-punk, Andrew totally ska, and Corey hardcore, they decided that they should be a ska/punk band. Also, because Andrew sucked at bass, and Jake was not fully adequate at guitar, Andrew switched back to guitar and The SuperSmashers got Kevin Novak, fresh from the Marshfield Bar Band scene, and also Corey's locker partner, to be their bass player. Also, since they were a ska/punk band, The SuperSmashers decided that they needed some horns. Here Andrew recruited his old grade-school friend Michael Ferracane. With a line-up consisting of Steve, Jake, Andrew, Corey, Kevin, and Michael, The SuperSmashers maintained a rigorous regimen of practicing and goofing off. They wrote songs and played golf in Andrew's backyard. They named their songs in the order they were written. Coincidentally, Andrew still has problems calling songs out by their numbers instead of their names. With that, the school year ended, Michael moved to Chicago, and Kevin set out to live in the real world, which happened to be Green Bay. The SuperSmashers played one show at Kevin's house, the infamous Backyard Bash, where Corey dazzled the crowd with his wits, and the rest of the band (not including Andrew, who happened to be in Colorado) dazzled the crowd with their horrendous playing. After that show, Jake quit the band. And from those ashes, The now famous SuperSmashers, after a few lineup changes, arose to play more shows and become more popular than Elvis and sliced bread combined.
