Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
The Shimmys originated a long time ago when Robert and Andrew Mackay began jamming and writing songs. Then after having some troubles with bassists and guitarists they were a 2 piece again. Then enter Bryan Thiessen the god of all things guitar and also the bringer of Robbie after playing one gig in Robbies basement under no name to about 20/30 people Bryan left for school in Saskatchewan and the unnamed band were left as a three piece. Then during the summer Robbie made a trip to his homeland and returned with no bass telling everyone he had smashed it during a gig with his old band so again nothing happened for a long time. Then Robbie coughed up $1000 and bought a new bass and the jamming began again. After stealing some equipment the band now practices in the "wacky shack" at Robert and Andrews farm where the name "the shimmys" was decided as it is Andrews(shimmy) nickname. We felt it fitting as we are all immigrants...And thats the history until now 10.23 on feb/21/2004

we play whenever people will let us play were usually drunk approach with caution
