The Rubes
We may not be virtuosos, ok, we're not virtuosos, but we've heard some pretty crumby songs played by so-called virtuosos in the last twenty years and well, we're just not impressed. On the other end of the spectrum, where attitude is all that, well, ho-hum. As for the state of country music today, don't get me started. In the words of Bill Clinton, "we can do better." Our motto has always been, "If we had better equipment, a better singer and some better musicians, just think how much better we'd sound."Band/artist history
In 1989, I taped a maraca to Walter Fixsen's guitar strumming hand so we could crowd yet one more cheap sound effect onto the live recording we were making in my living room. Ten years later, that stands out as a beginning point, although we were already working on songs. Now we're sitting around with an archive of demos and nothing to lose by going digital online.Have you performed in front of an audience? The Rubes rarely play live. Tragic deaths reduced our personnel to two, so lately we're a studio entity.
