Band/artist history

Thermal And A Quarter (TAAQ -- that's just an abbreviation, not our NASDAQ listing) is a groundbreaking band of musicians based in Bangalore, India. Conceived in a bedroom, (not a garage), TAAQ has been around from 1996. That's ten years older than some of your children and way older than most of your goldfish.

In that time, TAAQ has been variously labelled 'Indian rock', 'Curry' rock, 'fusion' rock and more. Neatly sidestepping the confines of genre, TAAQ has best been described as a pioneer, making music that resonates with the rhythms of contemporary India. Our influences range from South Indian classical and folk to progressive rock and jazz. Bands that turn us on include Steely Dan, Sting, Dave Matthews, Shakti, Jimi Hendrix and The Beatles.
