The Restitution
The Restitution is Michael Wright and James Cook. Drawing in an eclectic collection of sounds, ranging from metal to folk to electronic rock, they aim to do something new, without being unlistenablebut also without sacrificing their integrity. The line up is still in the works, but they haven’t let that stop them from making it happen. The story starts here, and they’re excited for anyone who wants to watch it unfold with them. The Restitution plans on taking the world by storm very soon.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
The Restitution began like many artists on here: a whole lot of writing. From 2005 until 2011, this project was literally just Mike writing music, dozens and dozens of songs, and occasionally (and unsuccessfully) trying to find members. All but maybe 3 or 4 of 100-ish songs from the first few years have been scrapped. In 2011, we had a full line up, but due to events out of our control, none of them were able to stick around. James came along in early 2012, and we've been writing, playing shows, and searching for the right members since.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
As of now, we're only 2 members (vocals and guitars), plus our bassist and drummer, the iPod. We love playing live, not so much the iPod, though.
Your musical influences
They're all over the place (and we're always getting inspired by new things), but Thrice reigns supreme amongst them all.
What equipment do you use?
Peavey JSX through a Mesa Rectifier 4x12, with several different guitars and lots and lots of effects pedals. For recording, a Tascam interface and an assortment of not super expensive mics.
