the real california

The Real California was formed as side-project of members of a band called The Peachbones. What started as modest home recordings with just voice and guitar has moved into the realm of a 4-piece rock band. Looking more into the past than in the present and future of music, TRC blends stylings of Neil Young, Pink Floyd, and early Red House Painters. With a massive rhythm section, anchored by drummer Donne Copenhaver and bassist Jose Ortiz, TRC lets the guitars and simple melodies roam freely to create dark, hopefull, and modest rock and roll.
We do play live. Mostly in Ohio's bigger cities. And yes, we love it. We played this amazing show in Cleveland a year or so ago. It was an amazing light show (I know, I know.) But the sound was so good, the lights were so cool. It was very Floyd-ish.
We all listen to a lot of different things. We listen to everything from IDAHO, Red House Painters, Pink Floyd, Neil Young, Mazzy Star, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, Low, Yes, The Beatles, Pete Yorn, The Who, Led Zeppelin, and so on. We all know we hate modern-day rock. I won't list them, but you know who I'm talking about.
Simple stuff: Tube amps, vingate drums, Juno-6, and a few pedals.
This is good stuff...a little mellow, but still, very good. You can never have too many effects...I think you should break out "the eye of god."
