The Quaker Hill Quartet of Uxbridge, Ontario, Canada was formed in 1944 and were a Gospel foursome until the 1960's. The Quartet was made up of: Ron Duckworth (bass), Lloyd McGregor (Baritone), Orvan Brethour (lead) and Don Pelletier (tenor). Ron Duckworth, the surviving member of the talented group tells of how when they were in their hey-day, they used to travel all over the Greater Toronto Area (and north of Toronto as well) to several churches and for other special opportunities. They were welcomed enthusiastically and they never asked for a single penny for performing! The songs recorded here were done during a practice session and were recorded on a large reel-to-reel recorder sometime in the mid 50's.

Ron Duckworth reflected on the fact that although they didn't ask for money to play/perform, churches or other folks would insist on covering their gas. That money (a whole $129.00!) was used to buy four nice pairs of shoes to go with the matching suits paid for by Ron's own father.
