Examine was invited and performed Live Hip-Hop in Queretero, Mexico 2005 AlphaMatic aka Cody Hall is a published author for his works of poetry. The Phormula performed at Summer Jam 2005 @ McDonald Theater. Story: 3 Emcees and DJ Phonics, The Sound Scientist, combine to create a style of Hip-Hop that is catchy but not commercial. Emcees Philosophy, his brother Examine, and AlphaMatic all attended the same high school while growing up. Now they rock stages, write rhymes, and drop clever lyrics on the beats that DJ Phonics produces. This four-man team has a flawless, hi-energy performance that brings the audience to life and gets everyone involved. The 3 emcees interact naturally with one other on stage, while DJ Phonics provides the record scratches that truly accentuate the Phormulas raw underground style. Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
THE PHORMULA has performed in nearly every venue in Eugene, Or and has recently begun to explore venues in Seattle, Portland, Corvallis, and Salem. They have opened for Lyrics Born, Mr. Lif, KRS-ONE, Aceyalone, The Hip-Hop Clan, Project Blowed, Atmosphere, Eyedea (the 2000 BLAZE Magazine Freestyle Champion), SLUG, and DJ Abilities. They have also shared the stage with The Coup, Qwel from the Typical Cats, and The LIFESAVERS who reside in Portland, Or. THE PHORMULA is indisputably Eugenes most experienced crew of hip-hop performers. DJ pHonics, Examine, AlpHa-Matic & pHilosopHy each attribute their success to constant dedication and to consistently working together to enhance the quality of the music that they create. pHilosopHy, had the unique opportunity of opening for Capadonna from the Wu-Tang Clan. That show also featured performances from Killa Priest, Remedy, and Lounge Lo whom are also very talented performers. pHilosopHy has an original rap style that is animated, charismatic, and presented in a highly energetic and aggressive manner. Currently, THE PHORMULA has just finished recording their 3rd album which is entitled, 'What The pH@#%! and it will be in stores Septemeber, 10th 2006. This album took three months to record and features 16 tracks each created by DJ PHONICS. This CD is a professional album that will be sold in stores across the Northwest and on our website www.thepHormula.com.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
We perform shows all over the State of Oregon. The best show we ever performed was opening for Saul Williams in Eugene, Oregon (2005).
