The Oscillation Between Hope and Despair is a young band from Southern California. Their sound is a potent mixture of old fashoined heavy metal with the more modern sub-genres of metal.

Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
The Name:
The word Oscillation means to Oscillate. The Webster's Dictionary states to Oscillate is to swing back and forth with regular motion as a pendulum.
Our History:
The roots of our band can be traced back to the summer of 2003, when Jacob and Matt wanted to start a band. Matt and I(Andrew) would occasionally jam out on guitars at school, however the thought of the three of us playing together seriously was unheard of. After about five months, I realized the project that I was trying to get going was not going to come together. In the fall of '03, I finally asked Matt if I could come down and jam with them. At the time our freind Mike was looking for a metal side-project, however a side project was not going to work. After focusing on his band for many months, Mike decided to sign on with us full time. We went into the studio in April '04, it was the first time most of us recorded in a studio. In August of '04 Mike left the band and the remaining members began their search for a new vocalist. In November they found vocalist Matt Mabie, he was auditioned,called back to practice and added to the roster. We are currently working on new material.
