Kawanna Lewis, professionally known as The Oracle Jayne Doe, was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley of California. Her music career began in 1988 when she began performing with a local group by the name of KSK (Kween Savin’ Kings). Soon after, she gained notoriety as a solo artist while pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree at Clark Atlanta University, in Atlanta, Georgia. At this time she began performing with Tab Money & DaVillian, an act formerly signed to Ruthless Records. She had the pleasure of performing in many venues throughout the greater Atlanta area, opening for hit acts such as Wutang Clan and the Dogg Pound. In pursuit of her dream, Jayne Doe made her move back to California where she currently resides. Her solo career has led her to many performances and television appearances throughout the Los Angeles area. Among the most notable, Jayne has graced the stages of Billboard Live, The Roxy, Hollywood Sports Athletic Club, The El Rey, and the House of Blues. In 1998, Jayne performed on MTV’s “The Cut”, formally known as “The Real Deal Showcase”(pilot episode), where she received interest from Randy Jackson of Fox Television’s “American Idol”. The Oracle Jayne Doe was also one of the first musical guest to appear on BET’s “Comic View”. Along with Jayne’s performance abilities, she is also a producer, songwriter, and poet. She is currently working on a book of poetry that will be released in December of 2004. Jayne produced two songs on her up and coming debut album, as well as, three songs on the Resurrected Minds compilation. She as been blessed to appear on several notable compilation CDs such as, Cater to the DJ’s (underground compilation), and the recently released Hip Hop Summer Heat compilation on the Streetlife Family label. Her song, Summer Love, was the first single off the CD to hit the Wild 97 Radio Station in San Bernardino, and has been frequently requested. Jayne Doe graduated from California State University of Northridge, in 1999 with a Bachelor of the Arts Degree in Entertainment Business Management, with an emphasis in the Music Industry. Her future aspirations include owning a full-scale production company, so that she may give future talent a chance to make it in entertainment business. The Oracle Jayne Doe has formulated a musical style that sets her apart from many artists today. Her mellow, laid-back melodic tones catch the attention of everyone who listens to her music. Her family oriented topics allow her to be related to by a variety of listeners. The influence of her idol, Nina Simone is very apparent in a lot of her music. Her poetic rap abilities can be compared to those of M’shell Ndegeocello and Lauren Hill. Ultimately, The Oracle is in a class of her own. It is apparent that she is prepared for the music world, and she is definitely ready to reveal the unmistakable identity of Jayne Doe.
