We just finished recording a decent LIVE DEMO. We'll be heading into a studio in a few weeks. Shopping around... someone give us a good deal and we're there...

Band/artist history

Here is our history. Formed in 1997 by Chris Macknis and Benjamin Oaks, The Killswitch was originally called Volatile Duress for our first taping. The name "killswitch" was overheard while some of our friends were talking about fixing their motorcycles. It fit the way we would explode (and vice versa) from soft to loud or from punk to jazz. We jammed with a lead blues player we called J. Crew for a few months.

Ian Wells and Jason Hileman later joined the group (and moved in with us)adding to our complex layers of sound. Both of them being prolific songwriters, we had an enormous amount of material. It seemed like we could write albums in a week.

The Killswitch was often joined onstage and in the studio by and extended family of musicians they called "The Amalgam". The bill would read "The KillSwitch Amalgam" or "KillSwitch and the Amalgam" or sometimes just "The Amalgam". These members included Marc Lloyd on percussion, bass and vocals; Dom Seese on guitar; Peter Boyle on guitar; JAR on percussion; Bob on brass, mandolin, guitar, piano, etc (a very talented man); Laura on vocals and flute; Curt Carter on guitar; and so many others it'd take pages to explain.

After the tragic death of Ian Wells, the members of The Killswitch (most often spelled KillSwitch) went their seperate ways for a while but came together on numerous side projects. Ben and Chris made an electronic album caled "A parchwork Orange" and later played as Silence with an additional electronic and organic percussionist, Marc. Ben and Jason often recorded together along with Vicky Wells on djembe. This duo dubbed Jezebel's Army performed at numerous acoustic events as well. Benjamin Oaks went on the record an electronic album "ANAHATA" and to produce albums and tracks for singer/songwriters and hiphop acts. Chris constantly honed his drumcraft and rehearsed with Mike Becker and Paolo.

The Killswitch reformed in October of 2007 with Chris on drums, Ben on bass and guitar, Paolo from Portugal on guitar and Androidd869 (aka BoomTheorie of Diatribe fame) on vocals.

We are currently rehearsing and recording (still in demo phase). Checkout our progress by listening to our songs. We'll be playing shows REAL soon! Stay tuned!
