with a professional look and sound is what you'll get with...THE OATH!Band/artist history
KEN SWANGER - GUITAR / ROLAND SYNTH:Jimi Hendrix was the main reason I became a musician. I saw his performance in the film 'Woodstock', and from then on, I knew what I wanted to do. ROCK N' ROLL! I originally began playing guitar around 1982. In 1983 I met Lynn Ingle and we formed THE OATH, one of the most enduring and successful bands from Greenville, S.C. I was the original guitarist for the band up until 1993. We released three independent albums during this time. 'Broken Promises', 'Promise Fulfilled', and 'Grunge Rock Lives'. These releases sold well, considering they were all independent efforts. I switched to bass guitar after the band had no luck finding a suitable replacement bassist. I enjoy playing guitar and bass, so the switch was fairly easy. I still write songs on guitar. I also have done studio work and projects with other bands and musicians. I've produced, arranged and mixed music, and recorded as a studio musician. I'm proud that The Oath has been so successful, and the future for the band is even more promising.
LYNN I.SWANGER - DRUMS: I grew up around music and musicians. But it wasn't until the summer of 1983 that I seriously considered playing an instrument. My dad was a professional drummer and he taught me how to play. In 1983 I met Ken Swanger, a beginning guitarist, and we formed the band THE OATH. We have been playing professionally full-time ever since our first professional gig in 1985. I also handle the bands bookings and business. We've released several independent efforts of original material, and were the featured artists on a major South Carolina radio station. We won the ROCK 101 Best Band Search, in the classic rock category, and were included in the compilation album 'An Hour From Atlanta To Charlotte'. We also had a song included on the compilation album 'Full Measure Of Devotion'. We have performed in eleven states, and played every kind of gig imaginable. I love playing in THE OATH, and can't wait to see what the future holds!
JOEY JACKSON - GUITAR: I started learning the guitar when I was about 11 years old, on my brothers old Harmony guitar. I'm left handed, so I learned to play guitar completely upside down. I still play that way to this day. At 11, I already knew how to play drums, but wanted to play guitar.Being raised around music, I felt and still feel music is my life. I want to do more with music than just the bar scene. One of my biggest influences is Alice Cooper. I've been a fan of Alice's since I was six years old. I'm also a big fan of The Rolling Stones, Peter Frampton, and The Monkees. I remember watching all the episodes of The Monkees television show. Micky Dolenz was (and still is) my favorite. Because of him and Neal Smith of the original Alice Cooper Band, I learned to play drums. I started playing professionally when I was 14 years old. I was still in school but hanging out with older musicians on the weekend. I've been in several bands, including country, rock, and gospel. I've also opened and/or played back-up for several artists including: Percy Sledge, Razzy Bailey, Ricky Van Shelton, Michael Twitty, Aaron Tippon and Patty Lovelace. I also did demos with some of these bands. I've done roadie work for Joan Jett, David Lee Roth, Bad Company, Dan Seals, Grand Funk Railroad, Foghat and Winger.
CHRISTOF DICE - BASS:I grew up listening to Motown and R&B, and after hearing what James Jamerson did with the bass on those old Motown hits-I knew that was the instrument I wanted to play. My musical taste is quite diverse-everything from rock'n'roll to swing to funk to bluegrass- so I have to say I draw musical inspiration from good songs of any style. Originally living in San Francisco I played live and did studio work up and down the northern California coast. To increase the number of gigs and studio sessions, as well as increase my musical aptitude, I began playing the upright bass in 1998. I moved to Greenville in mid 2002,where I played live and recorded with Hannibal Jones before joining The Oath and Party Of Four. The reason I play music is simply because I love it...it's a form of meditation and a high which helps keep me sane (relatively) and I'll be doing it in some form or other 'til I can do it no more!!!Have you performed in front of an audience? We are constantly booked up and gig at least every weekend, but play many weekday gigs as well.
