The Nunchuck Bastards
We're a 4 piece skate punk band from Martinsburg WV about an hour and change from Balitmore and DC. We love to play shows and jam whenever we can. We've been taking our small towns by storm and hope too take yours by storm as well. We love punk rock and love the people that love it as well. Hope you enjoy us and feel free to contact us for any reason.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
The Nunchuck Bastards were founded in summer 2000. They consisted originally of. Aaron, Jeremy, and Kyle under another name. Then Ronnie joined and they offically became the Nunchuck Bastards. Played first show in a garage in the summer they formed without Jeremy who was kicked out for personal reasons. Made a demo at 8 Eyed Crowd a local studio in Martinsburg. Lineup was Ronnie on guitar and backing vocals, Aaron on lead vocals and bass, Jeremy on rhythm guitar and Kyle on drums. Then another lineup change where Jeremy got moved back to bass and Aaron back on guitar. Played a few more shows and parties one of which where they met Matt then of Cow Tipped and played with them toward the end of their run. This moves us toward the end of 2002 and in the spring of 2003 everything was going smoothly and things were looking up for the group. They had about 16 songs and were going to make a full length cd. Then Aaron quit the band because Ronnie hurt his feelings. Then he rejoined again. Then he quit showing up for practice on time, and missed the Kyle's prom party whom he claimed was his best friend, then Ronnie Kyle and Jeremy decided too keep playing in the band without him. Aaron gave them an ultimadum. Either it had to be him or Ronnie in the band and they chose Ronnie because he's a banana spilt and Aaron's a plain vanilla cone. Besides he was a wannabe rock star and we all know we don't need that shit in punk rock. They played the Bedington Ruritan as a trio which was utter drunken chaos on purpose no less and they meet back up with Matt from Cow Tipped who thought this band was totally nuts and had been looking for a band that actually wanted to play outta town for awhile since Cow Tipped's break up. So we all talked that show and they rehearsed Matt and thought he'd be a good fit. They wrote new material and played their first show in an untimely fashion seeing as they only had 2 jam sessions but people really dug it and things have looked up since then. Since this time they have played everywhere from Baltimore, to Gettysburg and all points in between. We've had good and bad shows like every other band. We've pissed off our fair share of metalheads and emo kids and I'll bet they wished we actually gave a rats ass. We don't feel we need to be deep for the sake of being deep when really all you want is that 14 year old ass. We feel this is the best we've ever been and hope to continue to get better. They feel Matt is a big improvment over Aaron and Matt is totally happy with this new band. We released a DIY demo called "Ugly Music For Ugly Kids" and are playing nonstop too back it up. We plan to tour the east coast next summer with our friends Corrupted Youth, Par 3 and Common Enemy. We hope to contiue to make quality punk rock for our fans and peers and we hope you remember then no matter what happens WV never has a titty bar that's more then 2 miles from you.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
We've been playing all around the suburban Baltmore and DC areas and looking to expand our horizons.
