The Motor Primitives

The Motor Primitives are a four-piece band from Madison, Wisconsin. The MPs play melodic rock with spiffy arrangements. Formed in 2003, these local favorites keep getting better and better. During live performances, the Motor Primitives lead their audiences through sets that span high energy dance inducing tunes to mid tempo head bobbers to warm grooving melodic songs. 2005 marked the release of their self-titled debut album which garnered a bevy of positive reviews. In eary 2006 they released the gritty follow-up, Be the Engine. The MPs are thoughtful, crafty and quite captivating.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Formed in 2003 for a benefit concert (for the Madison International Hostel), the Motor Primitives have played to a steadily growing fan base that love to dance, head bob and otherwise carry-on. In June 2005, the MPs released their self-titled debut CD. There was much rejoicing. You can listen to snippets of each song at our , the follow-up EP, was released in January of 2006.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
We play in and around the city of Madison. Our favorite shows have always involved "audience participation." Whether it be crazy elbow dancing, TV quiz question give aways or pinata busting, we love our fans!
Your musical influences
If the Pretenders got in a car crash with Roy Orbison, and they had Stevie Ray Vaughn do reconstructive surgery, and were given a blood transfusion from the Police, you'd wind up with the quirky and introspective rock that is The Motor Primitives.
What equipment do you use?
We mostly like to use all of Robin's stuff. We practice in his living room (naturally, we're gonna practice where the drums are set up). When we're there, Matthew borrow's Robin's bass and base rig. Kat uses one of Robin's guitar amps and Pam uses the other.
