The Morning After (UK)
The Morning After is a blend of great british rock and original writing. They have many influences from BRMC to Pink Floyd and write great melodic tunes with some cracking guitar riffs in there. Live they amaze and have a good fan base in England. Check them out. The Morning After is coming...
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
The band began back in late Nov 2002 with Andy, rythmn guitarist, Dave "The Fingers", lead guitarist/ songwriter, Stevie, rythmn guitar, percussion and songwriter, Glenn, Bass, and Aaron, Drums and have been going strong ever since. All memebers sing. They have played many great venues including The Dublin Castle, Camden town, The Rockgarden, Covent garden and the Roadmender, Northampton. They have gained a big following in their home town and have made many trips to the studio. They produced a first album in 2003, and have went on, due to their huge collection of material, to recently produce a demo of the material to appear on their second album. Their music progressed to a more rocking feel from their acoustic roots. With Andy's departure in 2004 the band has continued with success as a 4 piece. With a number of great bands hitting the scene at the moment they feel their time is coming. Keep yours ears open, The Morning After is coming. . .
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
We always prefer live gigs and play some prestigous venues like The Dublin Castle, Camden Town and The Rockgarden, Covent Garden, and The Roadmender, Northampton. Live is always good, we always get the crowds bouncing and singing and have a great stage presence, especially Fingers, who often shows off with his guitar skills. The excitment of playing live can always been seen in the band, they love it. Seeing couples smooching to a couple of slow tunes always gets ya going, and Fingers playing behind his head whilst dancing with the crowd always stirs up excitment. We love the pub scene, playing all around our home county.
Your musical influences
We have a range of influences including BRMC, Pink Floyd, Metallica, Oasis, The Killers, Depeche mode and many others. Our basic sound is a blend of classic britpop and modern rock and roll. I think really any music you listen to influences what you write in some form or another.
What equipment do you use?
Lead guitarist has his USA strat and Marshall amp, boss wah and other pedals (chorus, delay etc.) Rythmn guitarist acoustic crafter and Aria proII with a marshall and dod tec4. Bassist uses a Mcartney style bass and peavey amp and the drummer has his beloved Tama drum kit, a huge kit with loads of cymbals.
Anything else?
We love to gig and play. We have made quite a few studio recordings and record well, quickly too. Check us out and visit our site. Any A&R out there recognise and come see us. We are better live than recorded. The Morning After is coming...
