THEMISTAKE
Band/artist history
1996. The Mistake was born when two members left an earlier quintet, which had been formed with the sole aim of using a repertoire influenced by the grunge of the time to give vent to its members musical frustrations. Their first 5-song demo CD (1999) was embraced by the alternative scene on the island of Tenerife. In 2001, under the guidance of Xavi Navarro (B-Core Discs) in Barcelona, The Mistake recorded their first long play (Opium). They were distributed by Alicantes 13 grabaciones label and the independent fanzine La Felguera.
As opposed to Opium, Polaroids, recorded in Tenerife in August 2004, was not recorded in a rush. The second record begins with the atmospheric strains of progressive rock and evolves towards the more direct and intense sound of emorock, displaying US influences out of Washington as well as British influences. The Mistake develop their songs gradually, allowing for studio changes to structures and arrangements. Two months later, Santi Garcia (Aina, Madee, Nueva Vulcano, Standstill...), who has become a cornerstone of the Spanish independent music industry, mixed the record at his Sant Feliu del Guixols studio, and months later Pelle Henricsson (Refused, The Hives, Starmarket, Hell Is For Heroes, Cobolt, ...) completed the mastering at his Tonteknik Studios in Umeå, Sweden (July 2005).Your musical influences
