The Mile are slowly becoming one of the best things to come out of the're home city of Leicester for a long time, if they can stay on track and keep writing the way they do before long they will be one of the best bands in the UK and then, who knows!!!Band/artist history
The Mile formed in Leicester on Feb 20th 2005 consisting of , Dan on drums, Ian on bass, Russ on keyboards, Pete on lead guitar/backing vocals and Nick on lead vocal/rhythm guitar.
After a short period of frantic practicing the band started playing the local circuit taking in venues the likes of The Princess Charlotte, The Attik and The Shed and supported March To The Grave at a gig in front of 1500 people.
The bands progression to venues further from home however was hampered by the drummers departure, but, the band have quickly put new drummer Phil in place and have been getting back to gigging standard before hitting the road, they have also taken this lull in gigging as a chance to start recording there first demo cd from which the track FALL has been getting interest and air play on a couple of local radio stations, one being the local BBC station, the band have also started to put together the web site which should soon be up and running.
Taking their influences from the likes of Crowded House, Del Amitri and INXS The Mile have created a sound thats different to the pop/punk sound most guitar based bands are coming up with at the moment, but its a sound they find is attracting the ears of both young and old.Have you performed in front of an audience? We try to play live as much as possible, there's just no better way of learning what we do and we love the crowd interation, best moment so far was playing in front of 1500 crazy people supporting a band called March To The Grave, it ended up being an all nighter and was completely mad.
Your musical influences
a kind of mix of Crowded House, Del Amitri and INXS, with a hint of David Gray and the Vervenickwol's station
