This band is now de-funked. Seriously, it's not happening any more, I'm pretty much just doing solo stuff now.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
My basement full of people with basses, guitars, drums, keyboards and a lot of amps and speakers. The power trio core of my band, Chris Nuttle on bass, Brendon Thomas on drums, SOMETIMES Ira Garrison-Clauson on turntables and me on Rhodes/vocals threw the rest of them out of my house and began making music. It was a little more complicated than that, but, if I typed the whole twisted story, I'd have to start searching for a keyboardist.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
We play live off and on. Ithaca area mostly, venues like The Haunt, CSMA, WowNet (though we decided no more shows there), Ithaca Festival and a couple more I can't remember. We've also played at the Grassroots Festival band competition and at another smaller music festival in Pennsylvania.
Your musical influences
Everybody funky. From The Ohio Players to Steely Dan, from P-Funk to John Cleary. And a lot of others I forget right now.
What equipment do you use?
Live: - Drums - Bass - (Turntables) - Rhodes Electric Piano - My personal pipes Recording (in my basement studio): - All of the above - Piano - Various Synths - Melodica - Trumpet - Various Electric Guitars I can't speak for the other two guys cause they're not here right now, but my rig (for anyone interested) is as follows: 1973 Rhodes Stage 73 Mark I, into an MXR Phase 90, into a Boss CE-2 Chorus and finally into a '65 Reissue Fender Twin Reverb. I'm all about the real thing man and this rig blows any digital funk rig to hell.
Anything else?
Feel the groove.
