At first glance there doesn't appear to be much going on in Northern Wisconsin. Far removed from cultural epicenters such as New York or London, few people expect to find anything new. But just beneath the quiet veneer of the backwoods is where some of the most unique expressions of human spirit can find room to blossom.
It's from this spirit of independence that the sound of The Kissing Saints emerges. Defying classification, they somehow manage to blend hints of folk, jazz, and metal into a refreshing amalgam of some kind of rock. They've got to be seen to be appreciated. They're unusual, yet somehow familiar. It's sort of like the smile of a long lost relative.Band/artist history
Marianna has spent the last decade singing and writing songs while looking for an opportunity to put the right group together to perform live. Through a friend at the local coffee shop, she was introduced to Jeremy, a weirdo that happened to play guitar and had just moved to the area to be closer to family.
With nothing much else going on during the long cold winter of '02, they began jamming and LO, there was a spark! "What was this? This is fun! We should take this somewhere!"
After playing with a couple different people, and some weird twists in fate, they eventually crossed paths with Mark. A veteran live player and expert drummer, he just tied it all together. The chemistry felt right and they began to imagine themselves as a for-real rock band.
They've recently released their debut CD, "Ninhursag", on their own label. Their new website can be found at www.kissingsaints.com.Have you performed in front of an audience?Jeremy:
"We've played a few shows and we'd love to play a lot more. We're a new band and we're still finding our sound, but playing out is what it's all about. We love to play, and we're happy to share the experience with anyone who would like to listen. It's an honor when someone takes valuable time out of their life to pay attention to something you're doing."
