The Kaos Theory

We are the Kaos Theory The new breed of Alternative Nu/Rap Metal Rhys Murphy (Vox) Ryan Salter (Drums) Steve Smylie (Guitar) Tony Salter (Bass)
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
The Kaos Theory Started in 2001 so that a bunch of teenager's gained the right to say they were in a band, Formed by the odd mix of a Stoner, a punker, a Goth and a Jock our music melded surprisingly well. We soon developed past the ears of our friends to reach larger paying audiences in all the alternative venues in town (and a few outside of Newport too) But we still remained a very local band and never really strayed outside of Wales. We started putting on shows offering support slots to other groups in the area and soon had become part of a network of young bands, but due to other commitments we had to slow it down through 2003, now were up and running again and with a new bassist who has brought a fifth element to our tracks, check us out soon.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Weve been playing live in quite a few venues since January 2001 all over Wales and yeah its great, we have had two bad sets both @ Otts due to there failing P.A system but we enjoyed even those. The best times was when we played a gig in Tjs in Newport S.wales, One of our friends had got really drunk and thought it would be funny to try and put us off., the crowd was into our set and ignoring him so he throw a can at me, missing and hitting our drummer, anyway we were half way through or track Turning and theres a 20 second gap with no guitar, Our mate reached for another can and as he threw it Steve (Our guitarist) dropped his guitar and dived head first down from the stage onto him. We just carried on playing, the crowd loved it.
Your musical influences
I cant speak for the others but I wouldnt say Im influenced by any one band, but subconsciously i guess whatever Im into or even listening to at the time has a huge effect on what I write, I suppose thats just natural. Recently Nigel Harding of XFM Radio compared our track 2What I Deserve very closely to Rage against the Machine, and hes not the first to say it. Weve also been compared to the likes of Korn, Limp Bizkit, The Deftones and Incubus. How bout you decide for your self.
What equipment do you use?
Well we were tanked up, Our exbassist had a B.c Rich Warlock, but to be honest i dont know what the others or the new guys got. ... A seven string guitar, a Double Kick, an 80 Mic and one bad ass set of lungs. Thats what we use
