Underground R&B is the going to be the next big thing in music. We are at the forefront of this movement and will be a force to be reckoned with very soon. Emerging from the NY and West Va, its the funky hybrid group, The Jon Quick Project. The Jon Quick Project's, "The Calm b4 the Storm" is a production album written, produced, arranged by legendary DJ Jon Quick. Look out for the songs "Stay" feat. Sista Sonji and "Dis luv is yours" feat. Miss Trinita coming real soon to a boombox near you!Band/artist history
As The Jon Quick Project, we have been recording and performing together for almost 3 years. The album was recorded at former Heavy D and the Boyz deejay Eddie F's Playground MiniMansion in Alpine, NJ and also at Treehouse Studios in Charleston, WV. Sista Sonji, Miss Trinita, Kelly Tremain, Lisa Watson and myself, Jon Quick are the only vocalists featured on the album project with Lisa being the newest member. Since the album was completed earlier this year, Sista Sonji and Lisa Watson have formed the duo, Thickk and Miss Trinita is currently working on her solo project. The Jon Quick Project was originally planned to be a springboard for these talented individuals and it looks like things are coming to fruition for everyone.Have you performed in front of an audience? We have played live in many well known NYC venues such as Club Cheetah, Club Ohm, Soul Cafe, CBGB's and the world famous Roxy just to name a few. We love to play live and we look forward to doing upcoming shows in DC, Philly and of course my homestate, West Virginia. As far as a special moment, the show we did at CBGB's was special because we shot footage for our first music video-"Stay". Cheetah was off the hook as well as we had fans come from as far as London, England to check us out.
Your musical influences
Our musical influences are many. Everything from Nina Symone, D'Angelo, Erykah Badu, Tribe called Quest, Jill Scott, DJ Premiere, Dr. Dre, George Clinton, Pete Rock, Angie Stone, The Neptunes and Timbaland. Imagine all of those ingredients mixed into a spiced rum cake. Thats our sound...gritty, yet smooth and tasty. NYC underground r&b.What equipment do you use?
I use the incredible Korg Triton, ASR 10 and the Roland 1880 for all of my preproduction.ittybittyjackie's station
