The Intergalactic Squid

The Intergalactic Squid is a band out of Moncton, New Brunswick in Canada. In this relatively small city of about 110,000 people, there were not any Funk groups on the map. However now that has changed. The Intergalactic Squid is a band that incorparates Funk-Fusion with an improvisational twist to their music. If you've ever seen a show, you'll know that there is never one the same.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Paramount Lounge - January 2, 2004 Paramount Lounge - February 11, 2004
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
The band plays live in Moncton more than any other place. However, with growing interests in other cities, they will be playing abroad fairly soon. This band is one if the best bands to see live because it's never the same twice. Not to mention unbelievably tight.
Your musical influences
The drummer of the group takes takes influence from so many different drummers and yet you can not hear one of them. From Dennis Chambers, to Dave Weckl and Tony Williams. The Bass player takes influence from such obvious players like Jaco Pastorius, Victor Wooten, and Mike Gordon. Both guitars players take their influences from so many different guitarists it's hard to even start. Jimmy Page, Steve Vai, John Scofield, Warren Hayes & Derek Trucks and the list goes on and on...
What equipment do you use?
Well, that's right folks. The Intergalactic Squid also plays Techno music. Sort of a la New Deal, who might I add are also Canadian. Starting with guitars: Chris - Ibanez guitars, Roland amplifiers, and MANY effects processing pedals. Aaron - Ephinone guitars, Peavey amplifiers, and two pedals, foot switch, and a wah. Mike (Bass) - Cort basses, Yorkville amplifiers and a Morley Dual Bass Wah. Mike (Drums) - Pearl Masters (Stage Custom).
