The Instant Messengers
3 MCs and 1 DJ... The Instant Messengers consist of MCs Cheshire, Cambo, and Alexander the Great, along with DJ Effective. Each MC has been making music solo for quite some time, and they met together summer of '04 to start the crew. Grimey samples, unorthodox melodies, and knocking bass hits are perfectly composed along with each MCs unique cadence. Each MC holds his own individual characteristic and mannerism through speech that sets him apart from the rest of the group. But together, their words compliment one another with unified aspects of art, poetry, politics, humor, ego, and the classic Boom Bap sound that drives their music. Their latest work is the Wanna Cyber? EP.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Alexander the Great, Cambo, Cheshire & DJ Effective all have been making solo music for some years now. In the summer of '04, there was an Open Mic every Thursday in San Rafael where local MCs came to battle. Each of the MCs of the group met here. Slowly but surely the group was formed. Now they hate eachother and only make music together because they have to.
