The Incredible Machine was "built" in the summer of 2000. It was necessity, really. There was no choice in the matter. A lot of music that had been trapped in my head and unrealized for way too long.

I had left a struggling Boston based band 6 years earlier. Disillusioned by the need to rely on so many different people just to put a few songs on tape that no-one would ever hear. I walked away from music and wondered if I'd ever play again.

In the summer of 2000 I couldn't hold back anymore. I locked myself in a room for three months with a few instruments and some recording equipment. Compiling eight songs that would define a style and a vision that has laid the ground work for future recordings.

Why the name???

Believe it or not..."The Incredible Machine" is the title of an anatomy textbook that I came across while house-sitting. I was writing lyrics in the library and there it was staring at me from the bookshelf. It was absolutely perfect and told the whole story! One of humanity and technology, about art and science and about how amazing it is that we even exist and that we can continue to evolve.

The debut album is a patchwork of fiction and fact. I toyed with the idea of calling the album "Exercises in Songwriting", but after debating for sometime I felt it appropriate to leave it self-titled. I hope you like it! Please drop a line if you like and I'll be sure to get back to you personally as soon as I can!

As for the future... hmmm... I guess we'll see...won't we!

See you on the road and thanks for listening!
