The Horny Toads
Marcus Williams
Hailing from the Detroit area (born in Royal Oak and raised in Troy Michigan) Marcus has a long history of
successful bands, Indie Record contracts and major label interest. He has seen the industry in many different
forms, yet still finds more comfort in the hap-hazard beginnings of a home town band. Coming from a neighboring
town that has produced such acts as Madonna, The Romantics, Ted Nugent and more recently Kid Rock, The White
Stripes, Uncle Kracker and Eminem, he finds himself thinking of the old and new Motown, and how it has influenced
him all these years.
Dale Bosley
As a tadpole he wiggled his way into this world in Concorde Massachusetts, and brought with him a deep rooted
musical background. Although studying classical piano at the Peabody Institute at age seven, it was at age eight
when he began his professional career playing recitals. Due to musical differences, he left the
institute and acquainted himself with saxophone and clarinet. It wasn't until an uncle (Uncle Darrell) introduced
him to the guitar that his interest and talent truly sky-rocketed. After relocating to Florida he formed Blitz,
a local cover band, then eventually placed an ad and formed a high energy rock/funk outfit going by the name
Stymie's Rash, with now fellow Toadmate, M-Toad! Relocating again to Wyoming in 1998, and being followed by
Marcus years later, Dale has turned his attention to bass guitar with the same aggression he has shown on his
previous instruments. D-Toad and M-Toad reunited again!
Brad Pattison
Emerging from the corn fields of Iowa, Brad kept his parents entertained (ya right) with countless hours of
practicing drums in the attic of their old farm house. At the ripe old age of 15, he departed from the high
school band regiment to become a member of his first rock-n-roll band. After five years of performing in several
local bands he decided a move to the "big" city was long overdue. This move took him to the suburbs of Denver
where he has thrived ever since. He's played in several more bands since then and is now looking forward to
providing the foundation in "The Horny Toads".
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
A Brief History
Although The Horny Toads emerged from a hap-hazard collision of three guys filling a slot for an
open mic night, they received an amazing amount of support from an almost over-night fan base. This
was very surprising to them due to the fact they had only formally met and rehearsed once a few nights
prior to this show.
One year would pass after that initial evening before the Toads (Russ Hval, Greg Winters and Marcus
Williams) considered re-forming at the invitation of yet another open mic night at the same local brewery.
Stan Woodruff, director of the event, approached each member separately in an elaborate scheme to get
these guys to perform together again. "But this time there are conditions...", Marcus said. Each
member had returned to their daily routines without giving the Horny Toads a second thought. This
time around, Marcus insisted the Toads launch a full-fledge show which was quickly agreed upon
by Russ and Greg. As they began selecting material for a short five song set, the idea of merchandising
was born, and the guys found themselves with a stack of t-shirts and drum decals sporting the new
official Horny Toads logo supplied by Stan Woodruff.
The Toad's popularity grew faster than anyone could have imagined. Soon club owners and managers
were approaching them to perform at their venues based on word of mouth alone. They still thought of
themselves as a "fake band" and didn't allow their popularity to deter them from their one and only goal.
To have as much fun as possible! This non-serious frame of mind found them entertaining the folks at
Nielsen TV Ratings in Oldsmar, FL on many occasion, as well as every well known club and venue around
the TampaBay area. It was certainly a time to be part of the Toads! But, as all good things morph into
even better things, the Toads found themselves at a crossroads. With the relocation of Marcus to Boulder
Colorado, Stan Woodruff and Scott Tate quickly joined the previous Horny Toads line-up and began to
embark down a new road to a very successful act. As for Marcus, the Horny Toads live on with the addition
of Dale Bosley and Brad Pattison.
