MILtown... gotta teach of all the struggles...
and also 4 tha luv of tha game too...
WE really did start from the basement up. Our first few tracks consisted of using a digital camera to record our voices, then we'd upload it onto the computer and then add the music.
That was in 2006. As the years went by, we got better.
_____________________________________________________________________
First Performance: UWEC YOUTH LEADERSHIP 2006. (Track for our Hmong People).
FIRST DEMO CD RELEASED: OSHKOSH LABORDAY 2007: "Only the Begining"
Second Performance: same day, same place as DEMO was released. ("Baby Gurl").
Third Performance: UWEC LEADERSHIP 2008. ("I'd cross the dessert" and "Can you feel the love Tonight?")
We're workin on our next mixtape.
Fourth: Jay Are performed at UW-whitewater for Midwest Asian American Student Union Conference. 2009 ("Drop Your Guns and Grab the Mic")
Fifth: UW-Madison HASA Open Mic. 2009. Jay Are recited "What are Heroes?"
We've performed at schools, tournements, conferences, and precollege programs.
*We remember one performance, (our track for the Hmong people), and the whole audience was silent. Young Zparks still recalls all he could her was the soft crying of our listeners.*
My Creator above. My family and circle of friends. My own life and its daily struggles. The usual antagonists in my life too.
BANDS: gotta admit Paradise Band was one along with the Whyteshadows. They showed us the potential of 'Hmong Music.' Then came along Watching Leona. They were a unique band, and their members are really supportive. Can't forget RARE. One of the first big- or the only universally known rap group in the Hmong community. Elfy has always helped pave the path. Jin. Gotta give him props for what he's done for the Asians in the world of rap.
Computer: MAGIX MUSIC MAKER. FRUITY LOOPS.
MIC: STANDARD.
-honestly, our 1st few tracks were made by using a digital camera, and then we uploaded the voice from the camera into the PC, then edited the parts and everything....
We've come a long way indeed.
Shout out to all our loyal fans. Thanks for supporting our music. We hope the positive rap movement continues.
DEUCES,
