The Heretics

We are a punk/hardcore/ska band from the suburbs of Toronto, Canada. We play fast punk rock with some hardcore and some ska. Our influences are: Nirvana, A Global Threat, Anti-Flag, Bikini Kill, Minor Threat, Sex Pistols, Leftover Crack and so on...
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
First of all...We started the band back in the fall of 2003, it was just the 3 of us (Dan, Steve, and Tim) and Paul (singer) joined a couple weeks later... We played around as much as we could. Then Tim decided to quit, in late 2005. We changed our name from "The Social Skidmarx" to "The Heretics". We still play the same tunes just under a different name. Our original guitarist, Tim, quit just after the recording of our new/first EP, "There's Your Threat". Which we recorded in October 2005 by our selves, with the help of our buddy Shahvir, in just 2 days. After Tim left in October we got some loser kid from the wee town of Acton to join the band. His name is Donnie, and we love the lil fucker. After months and months and months of training the young Donnie Grass Hopper, we played our first gig with him at the Kathedral, March 2006. We play our own brand of Punk mixed with some Hardcore and some Ska... Paul - Vox Steve - Drums/Vox Donnie - Guitar/Vox Dan - Bass/Vox
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
We play live whenever and wherever we can. We've played many shows around downtown Toronto and the GTA.
Your musical influences
Our musical influences vary, we all listen to different types of music. But we all have a love for Punk and Ska, and that's what we play. We throw in some of our influences here and there, thus creating our sound.
