generally home grown in SF bay bay area. Blah blah, yada yada woof woof.

Ohboy, well, lets be brief: Jeff Beck, Weather Report, Led Zep, Genesis, Marvin Gaye, Earth Wind and Fire, 3rd Eye Blind, Police, Miles Davis, Niacin, Chris Isaak, Holst, Philip Glass, Giorgio Moroder and so many more great players, writers and composers. I cant imagine a life devoid of their melodic/rythmic presence.
What equipment do you use?
No MIDI on any of this stuff. Its all analog except the drums which are programmed. Prefer real drums, wait till the next CD!
