The Green Eggs and Ham was the brain-child of former Rivendell-rockers Jeremy Ferwerda, Brendan LaRoque, and Andrew Leach. We wanted to branch out to the world of funk and jazz, so the three of of started jamming one day. We really liked what we heard and started to make jams more frequent. It's all about the three of us having fun and bringing music to everybody who opens their ears. The Green Eggs and Ham are: Jeremy "James of the Groove" Ferwerda: Drums Brendan "Count Funkula" LaRoque: Guitar, Vocals Andrew "Dr. Funkenstein" Leach: Bass, Vocals
Band/artist history
Well, it all started back in '99 when Andrew, Brendan, Jeremy and then-guitarist Kyle Blanchette formed a band known as Desolate. The following year, Jeremy recruited vocalist Shane Goulet and the band renamed themselves Rivendell. Shows were played, demos recorded, etc. Kyle was interested in playing drums, so he and Brendan and Andrew started messing around with a sideproject called Julio's Western Boots. Meanwhile, Jeremy, Brendan and Andrew had started a jazz/funk jam band called The Green Eggs and Ham. It wasn't until the summer of '02, when Shane lost interest and stopped coming to Rivendell practices when the R-dell boys decided to call it quits. Since then, The Green Eggs and Ham have only had one performance, at a battle of the bands at their former high school.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
The three of us are currently on hiatus, I guess you could say. College isn't kind to being in a band.
Your musical influences
We're all into all sorts of different types of music. I'd say our main influeces are Dispatch, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble, Jimi Hendrix, Dave Brubeck, and anything funky that grooves.
What equipment do you use?
Here's a list of the equipment we use: Jeremy: Yamaha drums, Zildjian cymbals Brendan: Fender/Epiphone guitars, Marshall/Peavey/Fender Amplification, and Boss/Morley Effects. Andrew: Fender/Yamaha/Hohner basses, SWR/Gallien Krueger amplification, MXR/Dunlop/Aphex/Boss/Morley/ProCo/Electro Harmonix/homemade effects, Ernie Ball strings.
Anything else?
