The Great Imponderables
The Great Imponderables is a band that provides dance music for weddings and corporate events. If you want people to move, then you want The Great Imponderables!
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Two of the band members are professional dancers and know what kind of music people like to hear and what makes them get up and move. The other two members are a father and son that have been playing music together since the youngest was able to hold a guitar. The father came from a music background where his mother served as a music teacher, his brother a concert pianist, and himself the member of a band from the 70's. The dancers in the band also played in a band from Brunswick, GA. They are very familiar with the beach/shag sound.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
From time to time, the band does have live public performances. You will need to check the bands official web site at www.thegreatimponderables.com to see these. Most of the band performances are for private weddings and corporate fund raisers. The band has played for crowds up to 4,000.
Your musical influences
The music the band chooses is for wedding receptions, and people that like the Carolina beach and shag music. They aldso play music from the 50's to today. The Great Imponderables tag line is, "From funk to swing and everything in between". Their classic mix of music is chosen to keep everyone on the dance floor, whether it's a wedding reception or a corporate fund raiser that needs live music.
What equipment do you use?
The band uses all pro sound equipment. Everything gois into the "mix" using a Mackie Pro 1604VLZ mixing board. Even the drums are mixed into the sound. All the sound is then sent through a B52 powered sound system. Sennenhiser mic's are used for clarity of voices. The band also has 8 can lights as well as lighting effects, fog, and a licensed laserist to perform beam effects (if desired).
Anything else?
While the band is located in Western North Carolina, the band has performed live music in both Carolina's, Georgia, and Tennessee.
