The Funktion
The Funktion is basically a solo artist. I do all my music in my home studio. I write it, produce it and perform it. My name is Paul Holt and I live in Bolton, Manchester England. My biggest ambition in life is to be a full time musician. I would love to get the chance to tour around playing my music and getting exposed. At the moment I have just left a two year music course at college, and at the moment Im in the process of writing new material. In the meanwhile I am playing in two bands as a bass player and doing session work as it comes to me. Over the next year I want to achieve as much experience as possible, then in the forth coming year, I can concentrate on promoting my material .
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
I have been training as a musician since I was 11 years old. I started off as a drummer, then I bought other instruments, such as a keyboard and learned "Notes" lol. Then I moved on to guitar then bass, over the last couple of years. I recently over the last year got a Pro Tools home studio set up, so for the first time have been writing new material, and recording it professionally. That has made me grow as a producer, producing other peoples demo CD's and bands CD's.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Yes I do play live, and I think it's a very important aspect to keep up in the music industry. Its my favourite part of being a musician, seeing people getting off on something your doing. Its amazing.

Prince, Roger Troutman, Earth Wind And Fire, Rick James, Parliment, George Clinton.
What equipment do you use?
I use some electronic equipment. Korg triton, Korg MS2000B, DM5, Dx-100. Thats about it music related.
