Band/artist history
Born of the fallout of various midwest alternative and punk bands is the final. the final began immediately after the farewell shows of The Additives (Madison, WI area) and Subside (San Diego, CA via Milwaukee). Ryan Garcia and Sam Arneson tabbed Ryan Wiisanen (most recently Weasel-Duluth/Superior) to join and play guitar. Thus began the official GREULING search for the bass player.Months passed before Mike Madouse was sworn in to bring the low end. Almost instantly the final honed in on tightening up and nailing down the tunes. Demos were recorded, and in September of 2003 the final released the self-produced single for "Alot Like Home" (b/w "A Different Kind of Flying" & "Sarah"). Melodic and catchy with stark, honest lyrics, the songs are delivered in a direct manner. Life with Mike, though was lightning in a bottle, as his talents led him to a greater challenge and the group and the bespectacled bassist parted closer as friends and better as musicians and people. Pat Anderson assumed the task of playing bass for the band, and the group looks to press on in 2004. All the Things You Think You Know, the debut EP, is slated for release in the summer of 2004. Expanding upon their alt-pop foundation, the final promise All the Things You Think You Know will have a slightly more moody, rough vibe. Live show standouts "Next to You" and "Planning to Return" will add an emotional, urgent layer to the more straight-forward material. On stage, the final bring out the rock in waves of feeling. One moments feedback melange gives way to a foot-stomping sing-along. Garcia's at times fragile tenor dances atop the rock solid rhythms provided by Sam and Pat, while the two Ryans carefully trade guitar lines to fill the soundscape. Electric, vibrant, and engaging, the personalities of the band members compliment one another for an always entertaining, if not seamless, rock spectacle. If you dig melodic, energetic, rock music, you should check the final out.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Yeah,we have played many shows around the midwest area, and want more to play. We are looking to form a big fanbase and move further out to play more shows. We just played at The Rave,in milwaukee wis. with Better Than Ezra. That was an awesome experience.
