The Early Revolution is a new project lead by Mel X....all songs were written and performed by Mel X with additional guitars on 'Everything you know is wrong' and 'It's time to jump my friend' by Scruff, Female voices on 'Initiation' by Cassie and 'Welcome to the Revolution' speech by Malcom X.
Inpired by classic albums such as The Who's 'Tommy' and Husker Du's 'Zen Arcade' the Music on this page is starting to evolve into a post-modern concept album, a collection of songs that will tell a story through the lyrics. (when I have found a suitable vocalist) The story will be based loosely on the beliefs of David Ike, Grant Morrison's comic cook 'The Invisibles', the writing of Howard Zinn and Noam Chomsky, with a dash of Buddhist philosophy and Hindu religion....it will be a journey into the unknown.
Band/artist history
Not much history to tell, I started recording these songs at home a couple of months ago without any ideas of what they would turn out like. Most of the tracks are first take and I usually just play whatever I feel like playing at the time....nothing is pre-planned.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Currently seeking band members to complete a live band....which may or may not happen.....if it doesn't I shall be looking to go into a studio next year and record the songs for a self produced album on my own label.
Your musical influences
Musically, everything from the Byrds to Swervedriver, My Bloody Valentine to The Beatles, Husker Du to Ride, Oasis to Queens of the Stone Age, The Who to 'World' music.....I don't have any limitation on what I listen to and it all influences me in some way.
The things that influence my music most are peoples beliefs and ideas, comic books, art, poetry, a random line read by a newsreader....whatever catches my imagination that day.
What equipment do you use?
Fender Mustang, Squier Jagmaster & Fender Acoustic, Tascam and Tapco home Recording Equipment, Korg tuners, Laney Amplifiers, Hayden Speaker Cabs.....Electro Harmonix effects and other random goodies.
Anything else?
If you take the time to listen to these songs, please rate them...I really appreciate it.
contact is also always appreciated for whatever reason, it's good to know people are listening.
