The DRIVE
The DRIVE is a NYC based, all-girl, alt. garage rock band.
Their music is a distinctive blend of alternative heavy rock, with sprinkles of pop-punk spirit right in tune with contemporary trends. Pounding rhythms, and sweet, yet driving melodies are the trademark of this group of girls.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
The band was established in 2001 when Rachel and Sarah decided to leave a previous project and start a new one. They advertised in the Village Voice in NYC, and found Jea. The three started to play clubs in NYC and eventually decided to add a lead guitarist, Eva. They didn't really plan to make it an all-girl band, it just evolved that way and made sense.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
We play mostly NYC clubs at this time. We LOVE to play live and have a great time onstage. Each show is so unique, we play with the crowd, go nuts onstage, and its just a total rush to take the hours of constant rehearsing and turn it into an hour of something with actual purpose and structure.
Your musical influences
The band was heavily influenced by Nirvana, Babes in Toyland, Hole, Weezer, Radiohead
