T-Rex, an original San Diego Junglist, has been on the SoCal club/rave circuit since 1998. Spinning d-n-b, ragga, and intelligent. Keeping the SD Jungle vibe alive!!!
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Multiple parties and clubs in the Southern California Rave scene since '98, highlights include Coronation, Stereophonic, Heavy Sound Seminar, and about a million masterdome parties!!!
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Yes, anywhere in Southern California they book me!!! I still love little house parties, they have great vibe, but I'll do the big shows as well.
Your musical influences
I'm stuck on D-n-B and Nu Skool breaks right now. John B is always a fave, as well as Clipz, Aquasky (for breaks), and High Contrast can't seem to go wrong. My first big influence was the Cuban, a live d-n-b artist from SD. He is always exploring new ideas, from hard tech d-n-b, to two-step, to house. And what a live performance!!!
What equipment do you use?
A super hyped computer, it's got wheelie bars, twinkie dispenser, carbon fiber pedals....just kidding. I use Soundforge, Fruity Loops, Reason, and a few secret weapons I found lurking in dark corners of internet-available software
Anything else?
Sure!!!!! I use Newcastle Brown Ale, Marlboro Menthols, and an old backstreet boys CD for inspiration (mainly to remind me that not all music is good music, and I can't get caught producing something too cheesy, or that's where I might end up!!!!)
