Steeped in irony and melody, folk-punkers Disaster Action Team pump out a pure blend of hi-octane, country-politan rock. This band of insurgents plunders folk rock, the British Invasion, country, punk and alternative to create sweetly bitter, mournfully rollicking tunes that get your foot stompin' and your heart achin'. Cleverly crafted velvetine vocals, cascading fiddle runs and the rich, dark tones of the stand-up bass combine with guitar, keys and drums for a unique and powerful listening experience.
"Fiddle, banjo, stand-up bass, guitar, keys and drums combine to make Disaster Action Team a brand of rock/country hybrid you1ve haven't heard before. Sunny yet nihilistic, leader Fergus Daly's Brit-pop influence is undeniable, yet with an Indiana twist, he manages to create something truly unique."-North By Northwest
Band/artist history
From the early days at the Ranch, singer/songwriter Fergus "The Grey Goose" Daly and fiddler Jessica Billey joined forces with friend and fellow musician, Rion, and began crafting and recording songs. After countless shows and endless reels of tape, Zach Coles got a hold of one of the famous "Parking Garage Stairwell Recordings," and immediately joined the band on upright bass. Soon after, drummer and percussionist Matt Coles came on board, completing the "Brothers Coles" rhythm section.
In September of 99, D.A.T. self-released their first full-length album under their former name, Outrider. Months later upon discovering not one, but two, other "Outriders" in the North American continent, the ensemble emerged with a new name: Disaster Action Team. With the latest addition of the talented Mr. Nels Graves on banjo, D.A.T. has set out to explore new territories and blaze new trails.
