The Department started out in October 2004, with Laurence and Ari posting classifieds for a bass player. By late October a bass player was found in Pete, although this was not to last long as Pete was forced to leave the band due to university commitments. By mid November, the current line-up was formed, with Kris brought in on bass guitar, and Mike on lead guitar. Rehearsals began in a studio in Salford until January 2005, when the band moved their practice venue to Farnworth Snooker Club in Bolton. From there they began song writing and under the pressure of an Easter Weekend gig looming, the name, "The Department", was settled on.Your musical influences
