the dead of summer

The Dead of Summer (name taken from an amazing documentary movie called 'American Movie'... go rent it!) began in March of 2003 as a side project idea (one of many we've had throughout the past year) between Eli and myself during our shifts at work when there was nothing better to do. We basically brainstormed about ideal local musicians in the scene who we'd like to enlist in the band. Kevin was playing drums in punk rock bands longer than most kids in the scene have been alive,Micheal was playing in a metal band, and we always thought he wrote and played really cool and creative riffs. They were both into the idea, and we started jamming regularily, and writing songs. Mike was then picked up on second guitar, he was a college boy who always had a great guitar style and musical taste. A 3 song demo was recorded and a postive repsonse was immediatly provided by the people who enjoyed listening. Their debut show with 'Strung Out', 'A Static Lullaby', 'Eighteen Visions' and 'The Kinison' was a blessing and they can only hope for more opportunities like that.
