The Carter Affair
The Carter Affair are a 4-piece noise/art/punk/post rock band from the south of England. They could do a lengthy description, but instead they simply say WELCOME. ENJOY.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Formed in 2002, we have been constantly gigging and recording to hone our sound. Released "Two Sad Tales Don't Tell The Whole Story" in 2002, followed by "EP2" in '03. Recently released self-titled debut album independantly. Available to buy from www.thecarteraffair.co.uk
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
But of course. we'll play anywhere, for petrol money and a crate of beer. we love it. It's why we own instruments. The most special moments are seeing people connect with what you do.
Your musical influences
Anything that takes thought. From early prog like King Crimson, through art rock (Bowie, Roxy etc), post-punk, new wave, and the sonic boundary-pushing of Sonic Youth, Shellac, Mogwai and ATD-i to name a few.
What equipment do you use?
Guitars: Fender and Gordon-Smith. Amps: ENGL, Marshall and Trace Elliott. Drums: Yamaha. Pedals: Too many to name...
Anything else?
Don't be fooled by hype. This week's NME coversluts are NOT the new kings of rock and roll. Rock and roll is dead. It's time to make some new sounds. If this sounds like your bag, then come on board. If you disagree, I suggest you start with Iggy and The Stooges' "Raw Power" and come back when you've learnt a little.
