The Cambridge Free Improvisation Society

Experimental Music | 6 tracks and 97 streams.

The Cambridge Free Improvisation Society is an informal musical collective whose members are students at Cambridge University. We gather to freely improvise during sessions which are held on and off during Term times. We have performed occasional concerts and, for the past few months, have been recording the irregular jam sessions we hold in various college music rooms. Selections of these recordings are now being made available online, including 'Miracle of the Sun', an hour-long improvisation which will be available in CD-R form at gigs or on request. Feedback is welcome, and indeed encouraged.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
A few gigs in Cambridge so far, which have been none too well attended - hopefully more to come soon though!
Your musical influences
the members of the society are often from completely different musical backgrounds, so there are a wide range of influences. what the music sounds like depends on what particular grouping of people shows up on what day...the primary influence is probably modern classical music, but recently ambient/drone/noise elements have also started to creep in.
What equipment do you use?
pianos, instruments, guitar amps, laptop
