The Bureau Sounds

The band is actually called but due to someone else using that name on soundclick, we had to settle for "The Bureau Sounds" on Soundclick...:( The Bureau is Brett Price and Matthew Daniels. The Bureau produce instrumentals ranging from funk to jazz to almost classical guitar tracks. Their sound has come from many years of listening to some of the greatest guitarists and song writers of all time Simon & Garfunkel, Clapton, Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Roy Orbison, The Beach Boys, Van Morrison, to the Waifs, Jeff Lang and Brian Eno (to name but a few). Brett is the musical genius who writes the majority of the music on his guitar using all kinds of weird guitar tunings and capos for his guitar; he also produces the bass-lines. Matt is the engineer/producer and creates all the beats, synth-lines and string arrangements, as well as doing the final arrangements of the guitars. The Bureau's sound consists of multi-layered acoustic guitar with synth or string arrangements, bass, and accompanied by drums and other percussion. The guitar and bass is all played by Brett and the synth, strings and drum programming is done by Matt, post-recording on a computer.
Band/artist history
Brett and Matt met while working together at a restaurant Brett as a chef and Matt as a waiter. The first song they wrote together, they recorded an acoustic steel-string guitar, using a come-with-the-computer microphone, in Brett's living room (Hardly ideal). Since then they have recorded and worked on about 9 songs all up. They have also moved onto more sophisticated recording methods, as Brett purchased a semi-acoustic guitar, and Matt uses his Korg Electribe to pre-amp it - still in the dark-ages though!! Some amazing software helps keep their sound a little cleaner than is usually expected of a setup such as this. They put together their first (self-titled) 'EP' in early 2004. It consists of 7 tracks of theirs, which has been released in Brisbane, Melbourne & Canberra (for now). They have finished recording their second EP called "Part & Parcel", which is now in the mastering phase of production, and soon to be released...
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Hvae never played live - playing poses a logisitic nightmare as there are often 3-5 layered guitar parts in each song, with drums, bass, and keyboards - there are only two of us, so we need to put together a large live band to get a show happening.
